Caravan Service Bulletin CAB04-8 Revision 1: Air Conditioner Compressor Drive Inspection

REASON FOR REVISION

To include additional airplane serial numbers in the Effectivity section.

To revise Compliance from Recommended to Mandatory.

To provide additional instructions to inspect for an oil leak at the air conditioning system compressor drive assembly and to inspect for an installed 2695004-2 Spacer.

Miscellaneous changes as required.

REQUIRED ACTION

Please replace any copy of CAB04-8 with the attached copy of CAB04-8 Revision 1 which is printed in its entirety.

NOTE: Compliance with CAB04-8 Revision 1 is required if in compliance with the Original Issue of this

 Service Bulletin.

TITLE

AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR DRIVE INSPECTION

EFFECTIVITY

The following airplanes equipped with a Freon R-12 or an R134A air conditioning system.

PURPOSE

This Service Bulletin provides instructions to inspect for an oil leak at the air conditioning system compressor drive assembly and to inspect for an installed 2695004-2 Spacer. If an oil leak or the 2695004-2 Spacer is found: the engine accessory case drive shaft seal and the compressor drive assembly drive shaft seal shall be replaced, the height of the compressor drive assembly pilot must be measured and possibly reduced, and the 2601262-1 Shim between the compressor drive assembly and the compressor drive assembly outboard support shall be installed so it fits correctly.

COMPLIANCE

Mandatory: shall be accomplished at the next scheduled inspection not to exceed 200 hours of operation or 12 months, whichever occurs first.

NOTE: Compliance with this revision is required if in compliance with the Original Issue.
